There are so many times “The Chef” gets off of work late and we have no idea where to get dinner. There are tons of food trucks, but they usually only stay out late on weekends or are inconsistent with where they’re located. We’ve found our “Cure” for late night dinner…

The Curewich. Fried Eggs. Cheddar. Braised Bacon. Weiss Guys Roll.

Duck Liver Pate. Sungold Cherry Tomato Vanilla Jam. Butter Toasted Panko. Micro Salad.

It’s modern, sophisticated, and has great food options for late night eating, bar bites, etc. How can you say “No” to a Curewich?? It’s packed with a perfectly cooked, pan-fried egg, smokey bacon, and melty cheese. One bite into this and it oozes with delicious, egg yolk that could be sopped up as a sauce to combine all the flavors in this simple-but-not sandwich. This is late night dining with flare!

The cocktails are elegantly mixed and have the right amount of kick needed after a long day at work!

Classic, old New Orleans bars are great, but what about something new? Somewhere with good bar bites and delicious cocktails/drinks? There are a few skeptics out there, but I welcome this change! It adds a newer and more modern bar vibe to the New Orleans scene…

Drink: Manamana. Food: Empanada. Chicken thighs. Corn. Egg. Quesillo. Cilantro. Smoked tomato aioli.

Ramen. Japanese noodles. Soft-poached egg. Pork Belly. Pork Broth.

I was pleasantly surprised! The chef and I came at an off hour..somewhere right in between lunch and dinner. The weather was nice and the atmosphere was comfortable. Our bartender was really helpful!  The menu was broad, yet simple with their own interpretation of a dish from each country. I would say that the ramen isn’t your classic ramen noodle dish in that the broth is deeper and is soy-based, but it’s a good change up. My favorite would have to be the empanadas. I’ve had an obsession with empanadas since my first taste not too long ago and these were perfectly flaky on the outside and filled with well-seasoned chicken on the inside. Oh, and the Bywater Bomber…it was DEElicious! Cold and refreshing with the perfect amount of “juice”.

Booty’s is a little hidden in the Bywater…a little bit away from the French Quarter, but it’s worth the visit for good bar bites and great drinks!

So..I’ve never been to Japan and I’ve never had “authentic” Japanese cuisine, but if I had to guess, Yuki Izakaya is the closest you’ll get around here. Everything from the decor and jazzy Japanese band shouts “I’m in Japan!”. Izakaya means “tavern” in Japanese…so Yuki is more of a bar setting than a restaurant. They don’t offer any sushi or rolls, instead they have a great menu filled with small dishes (Japanese tapas pretty much)…great for late night drinking and Japanese bar food.

Walking in, you already feel this extra cool vibe…Live jazz music playing. There’s no cover, but they do charge 0.50 per dish once the DJ starts playing. Chump change for awesome vibes and great food!

Cool Japanese movie posters.

House Plum Wine.

Spicy Tuna Tataki.

Takoyaki. Octopus Dumplings.

“The Chef” was raving about octopus dumplings he had in NYC and was dying to try Yuki’s…They were different from the ones he tried, but he LOVED them too! Loved the plating!

Snowcrab Pintxo. Basque influenced tapas.

Fried Squid Legs.

Japanese Ramen. Braised Pork Belly and Egg.

Yuki was a great experience! Great selection of beers and have a large selection of shoju. The food was consistent across the board…consistently DELICIOUS! Best bar experience I’ve EVER had…Live music, great food…Can’t get enough of it in this city!
