Every summer the “Chef” and I go to Destin, Florida for our annual vacation. Coming from a city known for its delicious food (“The Big Easy”), you often have high expectations for food when traveling. Destin isn’t known for its food…but well-known for its emerald beach waters and white powdery sand, but we happened to stumble across this cute little brunch place called Pancakery..

Atomic Bomblette. Hot sausage. Jalapenos. Green and red peppers. Onions. Mushrooms. Pepperjack cheese.

Sand dollar pancakes.

Crabcake Benedict.

Sure, they specialize in pancakes, but I much prefer the breakfast items that some even have the option of subbing the toast out for sand dollar sized pancakes…The omelette was about the size of my forearm! Although the menu says the omelette has 5 eggs worth, the waitress told us it’s probably 9! Definitely a stretch, but it was huge! The crabcake benedict was delicious. You could definitely taste loads of crab within..the hollaindaise wasn’t the purest one I’ve had, but it was still delicious.

If you happen to be visiting or just lucky enough to be living in the city of Destin, stop by Pancakery for a delicious breakfast…I know I’ll be back!

I’ve been wanting to try Gott Gourmet’s brunch for some time now, but every time I’ve gone, they stopped serving it or didn’t serve it that day. So before you go, make sure you know their hours:

Tues-Fri 11AM-9PM, Sat-Sun 8AM-5PM

Brunch: Weekends ONLY 8AM-12 NOON

Remember my last blog about Gott Gourmet’s lunch menu? They had THE best mac and cheese ever (w/ jalapenos and bacon)…so it definitely set a high standard for the brunch menu that everyone’s been talking about. I really wish they served it for brunch as well…I kinda wanted a side of it to go with my meal. What can I say? I’m not a light breakfast kinda girl!

Welcome!

Biscuits and Gravy. Buttermilk Biscuits w/ Local Creole Country Brand Sausage, Caramelized Onion, and Portabello Mushroom Gravy.

Ham and Brie Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict w/ Chisesi Dr. Pepper Shaved Ham, Melted Brie. Grilled Tomatoes. Asparagus.

Designed my own omelet! We’ll call it, the ChefsGirl Omelet. Lump Crabmeat. Baby Spinach. Swiss. Truffle Oil. Portabello Mushroom. Loved what I got, but I wish I added some sort of protein…possibly bacon or ham. My mistake!

After my long awaited brunch at Gott Gourmet, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was delicious! “The Chef” and I shared a table outside on the sidewalk…it was nice to finally enjoy the outdoors with nice weather, great food, and just the chill vibe that Magazine St. has to offer…

Luke is one of John Besh‘s restaurants and if you know about JB…you know all of his restaurants are sure to please! It’s a nice restaurant located inside the Hilton St. Charles Hotel in the CBD. It’s filled with businessmen discussing work over some fine food…It’s a different setting from your usual New Orleans feel, but I like it!

Baked P&J Oysters. Herbsaint, persillade crust.

Found a pearl in my oyster!

Fried Oyster, Bacon, Romaine & Avocado Salad. Could not get enough of the oysters. They’re coated in a seasoned cornmeal batter that is so delicately crispy…and then you bite into the fat, juicy oyster. The applewood bacon was nice and thick…great flavors all together!

Omelette of Local Crabmeat. My favorite brunch menu item! Filled with asparagus, crabmeat, and creme fraiche.

Gaufrettes. Light and crispy, perfect for the omelette!

Moules et Frites. I can’t get enough of these mussels…the buttery, herbacious (if  that’s a word!) bowl of mussels. It’s bigger than you think, so it’s definitely shareable. Save your bread for the oh so delicious sauce on the bottom!

Pommes Frites.

Even though the setting is more business, the dishes here make me feel at home… Besh really knows how to keep it simple, but still have the ability to make the food burst with flavor in your mouth! The flavors are so deep and rich…I don’t know how else to say it! Dinners are delicious as well, but I’ll save my thoughts for another day =)
